Frequently Asked Questions
Is High Priority supported under Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)?
No. High Priority only supports Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) due to the way calendar data is stored. High Priority will need to be rewritten using the new Calendar Store framework for it to be Leopard compatible. At the moment, there are no plans for such a rewrite.
I just added a To Do in High Priority but it doesn't appear in iCal. Why?
Although High Priority immediately writes to the calendar file after you add, modify, or delete a To Do, if iCal is running at the time, the change will not take place within the application until it is quit and relaunched. This is due to the fact that iCal only re-reads it's calendar file on launch and at spread out intervals when open. A downside to this approach is that if you make a change to the calendar in iCal before iCal itself has noticed the changes from High Priority, it is possible for your modifications to be lost. For optimal usage, use High Priority to manage your To Dos when iCal is closed and iCal when running.
I just downloaded the latest version of High Priority, yet the new features don't work. What's wrong?
After updating High Priority, you will need to log out and log back in for the system to load the new version. Alternatively, a restart will also do the trick.
I just registered High Priority and received my serial number from eSellerate. However, it doesn't work!
First of all, make sure that your name and serial number are being entered in exactly as shown. Extra spaces or incorrect capitalization can cause problems. However, it is also possible that the serial number is incorrect. While I do check each and every serial number generated, I may not have yet had time to verify that yours worked. Please contact me and let me know of the issue and I'll be happy to send you a working one.
I can't find the High Priority icon! Where is it?
High Priority is a menu extra and when installed, will appear in the menu bar on the top right hand side near the date and time. It is possible to remove High Priority from the menu bar, in which case it can be redisplayed by opening the High Priority preference pane and selecting Show High Priority in menu bar.
High Priority says that there are no iCal Calendars. What does this mean?
If you have no writable iCal calendars, you won't be able to add any new To Do items. To solve this problem, launch iCal from your Applications folder and create a new calendar by choosing New Calendar from the File menu.
I've made changes in iCal but they don't appear in the menu.
High Priority reads iCal's file as soon as they are updated. However, iCal does not save its changes until you quit. In this case, quitting iCal will cause High Priority to update its menu. Moreover, once licensed, you won't need to use iCal to manage your To Dos again.
I read that you can remove To Do items from High Priority. How?
High Priority can remove To Do items by using modifier keys. You'll first need to make sure you've set up High Priority's preferences to allow for removing To Do items. Verify this by heading over to the High Priority preference pane and choosing the Modifier Keys tab. You'll be able to see which modifiers are needed to remove a To Do. If none are set, simply choose the ones that work best for you. Now, when selecting items with the modifier keys down, you'll be able to remove the To Do item.
Is it possible to reorder the calendar order in High Priority?
High Priority uses the calendar order from iCal when choosing which order to display the calendars in. To reorder the calendars, launch iCal and rearrange the calendars on the left hand side of the main iCal window. Quitting iCal should force High Priority to reorder its listing.
I just edited a To Do in iCal but High Priority is unable to find any calendars!
Relax, there's a 99.9% chance that nothing has gone wrong. It's possible the iCal and High Priority tried to write to the file at the same time and because High Priority is a good citizen, was unable to replace the iCal file with the latest changes. If you refresh the menu by holding down the option key and choosing refresh menu, you should be set. If this still doesn't fix the problem, open up the High Priority preference pane and simply deselect and select Show High Priority in menu bar.
